Frequently Asked Questions

What is EduSync and how does it work?

EduSync is a Microsoft Word add-in that tracks document versions for academic integrity purposes. It stores version information locally in your document's metadata, allowing educators to monitor writing progress over time.

How do I start tracking my document?

Click the "Start" button in the EduSync ribbon to begin tracking. The add-in will automatically capture versions as you work on your document. You can pause tracking at any time using the "Pause" button.

Where is my tracking data stored?

All tracking data is stored locally in your Word document's custom properties. No data is sent to external servers. Your document remains completely private and secure on your device.

Can I see my version history?

Yes! Click the "Save Report" button to save a comprehensive report of all tracked versions to your document's metadata. Your instructor can then view this information.

Will this slow down my Word document?

No, EduSync is designed to work efficiently in the background. You may notice a slight increase in file size due to version tracking metadata, but performance should remain smooth.

What if I close the task pane?

Use the "Hide Task Pane" button instead of closing it. This preserves tracking in the background. If you accidentally close it, you can reopen EduSync from the ribbon, but you may need to restart tracking.

Is my data private and secure?

Absolutely! EduSync does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information or document content. Everything stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

Can I use this on multiple devices?

Yes, as long as EduSync is installed on each device. Since tracking data is stored in the document itself, your version history travels with your document file.
